*sigh* I love Johnny Cash.
Okay, you wanted a job description, so here it is:
My official "title" I guess you could say, is Nutrition Services Aide. Now, the Nutrition Services department caters to three areas:
1) The actual hospital- They have this really cool thing where the food for the hospital is set up like room service; when the patent is ready for a meal, the call down and place an order off a menu in their room, and the food should be ready within 40 minutes. (They can also order stuff for their visitors and stuff, and it's all part of the room fee, which is pretty cool.) Okay, so I don't acutally prepare the food, but I do bring the food to the patients, and pick up the tray later. The hospital part isn't very big. My boss (Who was actually just my interviewer at the time) told me there usually aren't more than 30 patients in the actual hospital at a time. In fact, the night before my interview there were only 8 patients.
2) The assisted living center- This part is done a little more in the style of a resteraunt. The residents come down, and have menus they have filled out. I will collect these, and go back to put together the trays. Then I bring them their food, and I suppose pick the trays up after the meal is completed. I think there are about 120 residents in the assisted living facility.
3) The nursing home- Here, the patients don't have quite as much freedom as those who live in the assisted living. I'm not sure that they get to fill out menus and such; I'm sure there's just one set meal plan for all of them. It's kinda sad, because here is where there will be patients who "aren't all there" if you understand what I mean. So as far as delivering the food, I'm sure it's about the same as the assisted living. I think there are about 60 people who live in the retirement home.
So, that's pretty much it as far as the job goes. I'll get paid about $7.50 an hour, then after a 60 day probationary period, it'll get bumped to about $8.50, and at that point I'll join the union. (STRIKE!!! tee hee hee...just kidding.) I will have to work every-other holiday, but I'll get paid time and a half. Once I graduate high school, I will be considered an "adult" (HA!) and my pay will get bumped again to about $9.50. At that point, on holidays I'll get paid double time. What's really nice is that it sounds like I'll get around 15 hours a week, which is just what I wanted. The usual part-timer shift is 4-8, which really isn't bad. So I'll work 3-4 days a week.
Yeah, so that's my job. My orientation is on the 13th at 3 o'clock. Yay. :)
